JAPANESE ACUPUNCTURE
Modern Japanese Acupuncture has its roots in the classic medical principals first recorded in ancient China over 2000 years ago. However, Japanese Acupuncture differs from Chinese Acupuncture in three key ways. It relies far more on touch and palpation for diagnosis and treatment; there is much more variation in treatment techniques from patient to patient, and it tends to be gentler and more concerned with patient comfort.
Often in the modern practice of Chinese Acupuncture the treatment is focused solely on the problem area. In Japanese Acupuncture, the provider first balances the Qi -- or body energy -- before turning his attention to the problem area or condition. Balancing the Qi before treatment helps patients recover more quickly. When Japanese Acupuncture is used for cosmetic purposes, balancing the Qi before treatment means results are noticeable faster. Japanese acupuncturists use smaller, finer needles than Chinese acupuncturists, which cause less discomfort. They also employ metal or plastic tubes to guide the needles into your skin, which enhances accuracy and reduces pain. Finally, Japanese acupuncture needles are inserted more superficially than Chinese acupuncture needles. LYMPHEDEMA MASSAGE THERAPY
Lymphedema is the swelling of different regions of the body.
Dr. Tareen determines the treatment plan is using the "Complex Decongestive Therapy" (CDT) approach. The treatment plan can include manual lympathic drainage, bandaging, proper skin care & diet, compression enhancers, remedial exercises, and lymphedema massage therapy. Lymphedema massage therapy employs gentle, light pressure in a rhythmic circular motion to 'clean out' and decongest our lymphatic system. This, in turn, promotes increased lymph formation and lymph circulation which effectively removes cell wastes, excess fluids, viruses, bacteria and even abnormal cells, like cancer cells. This process improves the efficiency and quality of the immune system. Certain conditions are contraindications for Lymphedema massage. Patients with a history of congestive heart failure or renal failure, or those with active cancers and particular infections may require clearance from their physician before treatment begins. |

IMMUNE SYSTEM ENHANCEMENT THERAPY
Immune System Enhancement Therapy has been proven to help those who suffer from low energy and repeated illnesses, fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Somewhat conversely, research also shows that it benefits exceedingly active people.
How does it work? The Lymphatic System is responsible for the maintenance of our body's immune system. It consists of delicate vessels lying just beneath the skin that carry fluid, which is rich in immune cells, called lymph. The lymphatic channels run throughout the body and are interconnected to lymph nodes and other organs including the spleen.
Immune System Enhancement Therapy consists of five treatments over five weeks.

- The fifth and final session is an acupuncture session with Dr. Tareen aimed at eliminating any toxic metabolites still remaining and re-energizing the 'Qi' or the vital energy of the body.
