Facial Rejuvenation by Acupuncture
Facial Rejuvenation by Acupuncture is an emerging treatment method that is rapidly gaining popularity in many countries. Instead of expensive, risky procedures such as surgical facelifts and chemical injections, more and more people are choosing acupuncture facial rejuvenation to restore their looks.
The goal of cosmetic acupuncture is to stimulate collagen just under the skin to help fill in wrinkles and plump the skin. A patient’s appearance after a full course of cosmetic acupuncture is typically similar to one who has undergone Botox or Restylane injections.
Like traditional acupuncture, cosmetic acupuncture also aims to balance the body’s energy and create a sense of well-being. Whereas many Western cosmetic treatments address just problem areas, cosmetic acupuncture addresses the person’s overall health, which helps the body's ability to support the "facelift."
There are virtually no risks to cosmetic acupuncture. A few patients may experience a bit of pain while needles are being placed, and rarely, some bruising may occur.
Facial cosmetic acupuncture works for all ages, even for people in their 30’s, as it works to slow down thinning of collagen and thereby limiting the formation of wrinkles and crows feet. Because collagen builds up over time, the American Cosmetic Acupuncture Association recommends an initial treatment of ten sessions, twice a week, followed by one monthly maintenance session. Each session takes 30 to 45 minutes.
Dr. Tareen begins each session by first clearing blockages in the flow of Qi in the main meridians of the body. Then, super fine Japanese facial acupuncture needles are placed at the appropriate points in the face and neck. For some patients, Dr. Tareen may also use a painless micro electric current to boost collagen production and improve blood flow.
